The most common request is the transfer of old movie film to video, picture collages or slide transfers to video. For the last 20 years, The Transfer Store has preserved memories made on 8mm and 16mm film during the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's, as well as slides and pictures onto video tape and satisfied thousands of families and individuals. Now the digital age has arrived and your footage can be preserved for five or more generations! We now have the ability to store your information on digital disc, allowing you to keep music and video footage WITHOUT degradation for over 100 years, compared to about 15 years on video tape! Film deteriorates over time and now is the right moment to transfer your treasures to a longevity media such as CD-ROM or DVD; otherwise they will eventually be lost. Now let's take an average order and calculate the cost: 

The best way to start, is to organize your film reels and see if you have the budget for the preservation of your memories. First you'd have to find out what kind of film you have, and then you'd have to put them in the right order…the sequence they should appear in your video. If you have absolutely no idea about the year and order, there is a solution too: We would make you a so-called view-copy, containing your footage and a reference number on the video itself for each reel transferred. You would then make a list while viewing the tape and put them in the right order. After submitting the list back to us, we would create an edited master, following your list and other instructions such as titles and music inserts if you have any. The transfer price is the same and you only will be charged for one transfer. The only additional cost would be the non-linear editing time at $85.00 per hour. Sound's pretty easy…right?…but you're still not sure….? Let's go back to our example above: even if our tech would need 2 hours to edit your masterpiece, it would still be less than locating and renting a projector and possibly damaging your film during viewing, to determine the order for your reels. Remember: The Transfer Store will NEVER charge you a set-up fee…there is NO minimum….and a HQ VHS tape is ALWAYS included!
